We're learning all about the habitat today with 5t We're learning all about the habitat today with 5th grade students in our Climate NATURE program at McKay, in partnership with Piers Park Sailing Center. What makes a habitat? Who lives there? What sustains that life? Our 5th graders had a lot of thoughts about sustaining life in their neighborhoods in East Boston amidst airport pollution, rising temperatures, flooding threat, and more.

Empowering younger generations with factual knowledge about our earth, climate change, and ways we can create a more just and sustainable earth community is integral to EF's mission. And that starts not with global questions but what's happening right here in our own community - how can we take care of our neighborhoods and get our needs of today met while sowing seeds for a sustainable future?

Local food, planting trees, public transport, and recycling were just some of the solutions that came to mind today 🥕 🌳🚃 ♻️

Grateful for the time Rep Adrian Madaro spent with Grateful for the time Rep Adrian Madaro spent with Climate Corps youth yesterday. We got to tour the state house, talk about new legislation like Food Justice with Jobs, hear the youth perspectives on issues in East Boston, and brainstorm actions and legislation needed to improve issues we care about.

Should it be made illegal for cities to have under a certain percentage of tree canopy? That's one idea that emerged, as East Boston has the lowest tree canopy (7%) in the state and suffers the compounded consequences of heat island effect and airport pollution. Climate Corps have been watering Tree Eastie trees all summer long and know firsthand their importance and the need for more trees in East Boston.
Giving out free, organic produce to our community Giving out free, organic produce to our community members in East Boston - thanks to @gaininggroundconcord for the fresh, local produce.

We're here every Wednesday at 1 pm (until supplies last). Do you need food? Come pick some up at 294 Sumner St, no questions asked. Do you want to get involved? We can always use extra hands - reach out to volunteer with us

Thanks to our Youth Climate Corps for leading the way!
