Ready Set Grow: Eastie Farm Seed Starter

Come learn about the Boston Public Library’s seed bank at our East Boston branch! Eastie Farm will demonstrate how to sow seeds and help you with instructions on how to care for them. 

  • Choose from a collection of seeds
  • Take your tray of seedlings home and care for them
  • Keep the seedlings you want and bring others back to the farm for transplantation


  1. What do I have to bring?
    • Nothing.
  2. What can I go home with?
    • You will have go home with a small tray of soil with seeds already sown.
  3. What do I have to know?
    • Nothing.
  4. Can I keep some of the seedlings?
    • Yes.
  5. If I keep some seedlings, will I get any help with caring for the plant?
    • Yes.
  6. Who gets the harvest?
    • For the seedlings you keep and care for, you do.
  7. While I care for the seedlings, if there is any problem, what should I do?
  8. What kind of seeds will we have?
    • We expect to have seeds that are appropriate to be sown at the time of the event. It will mostly be vegetables and greens.
  9. Can I bring my own seeds?
    • Yes.
  10. I have old seeds. Can I bring them to share?
    • Yes.
